"Absolutely Wonderful"

~ Bob Harris, BBC Radio 2

The Black Feathers are singer/songwriters Ray Hughes and Sian Chandler who, having played together for many years in various projects, decided to break away and collaborate as a duo, writing and performing their own material.

The ability to write songs that are both modern and ancient is a rare thing. The product of an arcane art of weaving in traditional influences so thoroughly that they become the warp and weft of fresh creations. The Black Feathers have just such an ability.

An award-winning, earthy blend of English folk and American roots, with indie rock sensibilities peeking through, and with Ray's guitar work buoying the kind of tight-as-blood harmonies often only heard in family bands, theirs is a unique sound.

2016 was an incredible year for the The Black Feathers. Their debut album was met with critical acclaim and broke into the Top 10 in the iTunes Country chart and the Official UK Americana Chart. A live album recorded at The Convent in Stroud has also been released and very well received. Tours in the UK and the USA, as well as an Irish tour supporting Eddi Reader, kept Sian and Ray busy throughout the year. They could easily have rested on their laurels, but instead they have been spending their downtime working on new material to be released this year.

Their sound, with its sheer poetic beauty both lyrically and musically, draws you in for a brilliant, effervescent ride from the moment they start to play. Don't miss them!
